ok let me clear this up...
Gaile herself said that these emotes where coming. I asked her "greatness" about these emotes, myself. Each one you guys have suggested, except the /humpleg.

.... and you want to hug each other online because....

I was unaware people would actualy pay $50 to stand around hugging stuff... I can do that in school... I can not however chop up a fire imp in school...

Emotes = not important right now

Oh I think we need a /searchbutton emote because I have already seen this suggested in the may other "Omg I can't get any action in real life so I need emotes to do it in games" topics

i dont want to hug people.....mabey bear hug them & give them a -5 health degen (good for warrior )

i dont think people are paying $50 for emotes, but when you pay $50 for anything, especially an expansion, people except "Expansion" in ALL area's.....even something as simple as emotes.

the list is endless, i like to see atleast another 50 face selections for each class....varied races with no special attributes other than "looks"...but at the end of the day, this is just a suggestion thread & we will have to be happy with what the game guys give us

I was unaware the topic of an emote got down to, ""Omg I can't get any action in real life so I need emotes to do it in games" topics".

To be honest, we could use some more. Roleplayers just want a couple more signals by witch actively display animation in-game without have to put asterisks<*>around everything like, *Leans out the doorway*

More emotes could finally help to quell more of the issue of whiney roleplayers.

Emotes are a silly waste of time and resources that could be better spent creating new items for the game, new skills for the game and new content for the game overall. Maybe 5 years or so down the road there would be room for emote silliness, but, for now the resources should be spent on much better things.

Your opinion is just that, and opinion. And it won't take much effort to animate a series of still face frames or hand gestures that would barely consume a week just to satisy some of the playerbase.

Again, not everyone feels "emotes are a silly waste if time" and I am one of them, myself. It's a great way to break the ice in a PUG, or to start a conversation with someone you just met.

Those are just a couple reasons why more can lead to better gameplay experience.

That's your opinion of course and a silly one when gameplay of skills is more important than silly emotes. There's plenty enough now, use them, go wave at everyone, I'm sure they will all be smiles. lol

Really now, next people will try to make this a RPG

Still, no harm in it, emotes can be turned off from the filter and you don't have to watch people

Go play with your barbie dolls or purple dragon stuff animals if you need a hug. I prefer gameplay to silliness or childs toys.

So I take it you don't care about 15k armor or choosing your character's looks and name either? After all, they have nothing to do with gameplay...

Emotes aren't hard to do. A simple animation only requires the effort of an animator. There is no game code that needs modifying or gameplay issues that need to be balanced... and frankly, if the animators aren't going to be doing anything else, why not have them make a few more emotes? It's not a lot of effort, nor can it be "better spent" elsewhere. It's not going to hurt the gameplay in any way. Instead, it makes the game a little bit richer, and allows for you to customize the way you play your character. What's the problem?

Truth of the matter, no not really. 1500gp armor is as good as 15k or fissure armor in every respect but looks. A vanity item hardly worth my effort or time for that kind of "gameplay" as you put it.

Give me more skills, more attribute points more skill slots more INTELLIGENT things to play around with, not some silly emotes or some silly looking face or body feature, I don't play with barbie dolls or stuffed animals.

Well I can understand people wanting more stuff in the game, but that leads to the big question, when do you have enough? If they add more now we will all be happy and start having /fakedead, /hug, /cartwheel parties till our typing fingers wear out. That sounds all happy and fun, but eventualy you will get bored of that and want more, and more, and more until finaly there is nothing more to add, however the players will still want more. Let us not forget about the other players in the game, if they focus on emotes how will it make little Billy who wants more quests feel, or little Jimmy who wants his armor to look slightly cooler. The fact is Anet can not make everyone happy with one big super update, I think things such as SF and new looking armor have proved that. So incase you have no clue what im talking about ill wrap it all up by saying sure hugging would be a neat idea but how would it help us as player and how long will it keep you happy before you want another emote added so Anet has to drop what they are doing just to add it in.

And I also have a question, the world is on the edge of being overrun by lava giants and what not.... what the heck are you doing hugging stuff and naked dancing, go hack and slash stuff dead!

My point was that it ISN'T "gameplay" as one would normally describe it. =) Nevertheless, loads and loads of people like those features.

More skills are nice, more quests are nice... but the animators aren't exactly designing those. Why not let them have some fun? My point is that making emotes doesn't take much effort, and won't PREVENT you from getting your new skills and new toys. The two are NOT mutually exclusive!

No one said anything about focusing on emotes. Just because they're adding a few emotes doesn't mean they had to drop everything else they were doing. It's a group of people... they can do different things at once. =) As for how much is enough... well, give me a list of all human actions, and I'll tell you how much is enough. =)

It's called emotion. Don't you think those people who lost friends and family to the titans deserve a hug? Some compassion?

Or is every single person in the world an emotionless Terminator robot thingy?

Oh wait...

I would also like /favor so I don't have to go to ToA/Tombs to see who has favor. I'm lazy like that
